While it’s still early days, things are moving apace on Scream 4. The most exciting news, as reported by the lads of Bloody Disgusting, is that original writer Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven are circling the project.

Williamson will apparently pen a draft of the new movie, which will see a younger, newer cast of characters dealing with the genre-reference laden horror.

Plus, while he’ll likely executive produce, Wes Craven is rumoured to be considering slipping into the director’s chair once more. Finally, there’s word that Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox Arquette have all been offered cash to make cameos in the new pic.

I’m a big fan of the original (which i cannot believe is over 10 years old!) and Scream 2 was by far the best of the trilogy with a fantastic plot to match the scares, but the less said about Scream 3 the better. Maybe the original dream team can recapture some of the glory…
