We’ve heard rumblings and whispers and rumours about Doctor Who ending up on the big screen for years. It was originally though that the Beeb would relaunch the series with a big screen adventure.

But while the show has returned in a massive way during the last few years, nothing has been said that would indicate anyone in charge wanted to make a movie from it. But while he hasn’t gone out and said he’ll do it, new show honcho Steven Moffat has provided the most positive sound bite for ages. Speaking at this weekend’s Edinburgh TV festival, he told the crowd that, “It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it is great and fantastic.” He stressed, however, that it won’t happen if it affects the show itself. We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed, then – but if anyone can make it good, it’s Moffat. More news as I get it all you ‘Who’ geeks!

Personally I would rather see Tennant turn his acting chops to playing the Riddler in the forth coming sequel to The Dark Knight!
