That’s right folks, it looks although after many years of rumours and speculation that news surrounding an A Team film is firming up. Most importantly the film has a release date, June 12th 2009, making it one of next summers big hitters. So far only the director is confirmed, John Singleton of Boyz N The Hood, and more recently Four Brothers fame will take the helm in what i for one hope truly delivers something fresh and action packed whilst capturing what made the original 80’s series so good. It seems the film is to be set in modern day with a plot synopsis listed as
“A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.”
As for the cast, it is still very much in the rumour stages, but it seems Ice Cube is a certainty for the role B A Sgt. Boscoe B.A. Baracus, claiming if the role were his he would not like to be directly imitating the iconic Mr. T but bringing something new to the role, certainly no bad thing in my eyes. The latest rumours regarding two other characters are Woody Harrelson for Captain H.M. ‘Howming Mad’ Murdock, when asked Harrelson heither denied nor confirmed rumours. And last but certainly not least is Bruce Willis, in for the Role Of Colonel Hannibal Smith, again this is merely rumour at this stage but it would make sense to bring in a star as big as Willis, yes this is a known franchise BUT it’s desperately in need of a star with the clout to pull in the audiences.
So, so far it’s shaping up nicely and if we see Paul Rudd (a great suggestion by Matt of The Reel Time) round out the cast as Face, I’d be a very happy guy. More news as I get it film fans!
